The Fish is the Sea - final art offering of 2021
It's been awhile, friends!
As the year winds down, I feel grateful for the opportunities I have had to make and share art in 2021. My final offering of this year is one that I'm very excited about...
My painting "The Fish is the Sea" has been reproduced in a beautiful giclée print edition of 100 by Tiny Showcase!
Image description: A pink and blue fish floats in space with their tail pointed up and open mouth pointed down towards a glowing star. A small wooden ship and a long green sea monster ride the scales of the fish. The ship and a blue star are communicating. The galaxy surrounding the fish is full of stars, clouds, islands with trees and water, and a smiling flower being. In the bottom left, a blue figure sits on a piece of rainbow and waves hello.
I am thrilled to work with Tiny Showcase, as their mission is close to my heart:
“Tiny Showcase was created in 2004 as a way to make collecting art affordable and accessible. Back then, we were one of the only places to buy art online. We remain a quiet island to encounter beautiful, affordable work in small quantities, carefully chosen. We think art asks us to slow down. We're building a business at the pace of our values: accessibility to art for everyday collectors like you; respect and support for the valuable work of artists; and a bit of space so you can really look at just one piece of art at a time.”
Not to mention they are also based here in Rhode Island!
A pic of me smiling, holding the original painting in front of some greenery in my driveway.
You can purchase the 8"x10" archival print of "The Fish is the Sea" on its own, or splurge on a frame made of locally sourced wood in Vermont. When you buy a print, you are also supporting the Tomaquag Museum - Rhode Island's only indigenous museum! I chose to share profits with the Tomaquag Museum because I have tremendously enjoyed their programming this year. Joining in their indigenous authors book club was a highlight of last winter. They also host knowledge-sharing nature walks, author talks, and are currently running an exhibition called Away from Home: Native American Boarding School Stories.
I hope you check out my print, Tiny Showcase's online collection, and if you're local, visit the Tomaquag Museum too.
In other news…
Last month I returned from the forest of Vermont where I spent five weeks living in and working on a little log cabin, and creating art. I plan to write more about the experience soon. Here are a few of the daily comics/watercolor paintings I was making up there.
Finally, "Pawtucket Comix" my book of 2020 diary comics is now available at a shop near you (if you live in Rhode Island or Philadelphia)! Stop by Rahcoco's Comics in Providence, Stillwater Books in Pawtucket, Riffraff bookstore + bar in Providence, or Partners and Son Comics in Philadelphia. For those elsewhere, I still have plenty of copies available in my online store.
Thanks for the love everyone! I am sending love right back to you this season!
